FAQ

Good questions, straight answers

A better chance of getting your lost items back – here's how it all works.

The basics

What is ReturnMePlz?

ReturnMePlz makes simple recovery tags and labels for the things you don't want to lose. If your item goes missing and someone finds it, they can scan or tap the tag and message you – giving your belongings a much better chance of finding their way home.

Does it track my items?

No – and that's deliberate. There's no GPS, no batteries and no location tracking. ReturnMePlz is about recovery, not surveillance: it simply gives an honest finder a way to reach you.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. Your name, phone number and email are never printed on the tag. A finder sees your item's name and a simple way to send you a message – you decide what to share from there.

Do I need an app?

No. You activate your tag on our website in seconds, and finders use nothing more than their phone camera (QR) or a tap (NFC). No downloads, no accounts for finders.

Why does getting something back matter more than replacing it?

Because it isn't gone, only mislaid. A replacement is a different object – the one you lost is the one you actually had. Reunited, not replaced.

For finders

I've found an item with a ReturnMePlz tag. What do I do?

First – thank you. If the item carries a QR label, scan it with your phone camera. If it says Tap to Return, hold your phone against it instead. Either way you'll reach a page where you can message the owner. If a QR label won't scan, you can enter its 8-character code at returnmeplz.com/r.

Found an item?

Does it cost me anything to return an item?

Nothing at all. No app, no account, no charge. Just the warm glow of being someone's hero.

Products & practicalities

Are the labels waterproof?

Yes – our QR labels are designed to be waterproof and dishwasher-tested for bottles and lunchboxes, and our wearable products are built to handle everyday life outdoors.

Which phones can read the NFC tags?

Most modern smartphones – both iPhone and Android – read NFC tags out of the box, with no app needed.

What if the finder can't scan the tag?

Every QR label carries a short human-readable code – 8 characters, in an alphabet chosen to avoid the letters people misread. The finder just enters it at returnmeplz.com/r and reaches the same page they'd have reached by scanning.

Can I move a tag to a different item?

You can update the item's name and details any time from your activation. Adhesive labels themselves are single-use once stuck, but sleeves and tags can move with you.
